Day-one field checklistRe-Roof: Day-One Site Setup
Run this before the first shingle moves. Same sequence every job, lead foreman on site or not. Tick each box as you go.
On-site sequence
Before the roof opens1
Confirm scope against the signed quote.
Two minutes against the folder before anyone touches a ladder.
2
Walk the property with the homeowner.
Access, the dog and closed gate, fragile items, where their cars go.
3
Photograph all four sides and the driveway.
Before any work moves. This is the proof that protects the job.
4
Park the trailer and bin per the site map.
Boards down first. Nothing on the exposed-aggregate driveway bare.
5
Tarp landscaping, the AC unit, and walkways.
Front garden beds planked, east-side AC covered before tear-off.
6
Set anchors and harness every crew member.
Rear slope is 8/12, tie off full time before the first shingle moves.
7
Stage materials at the lift point in install order.
No shuffling bundles at noon. Check the load against order A-88312.
8
Brief the crew.
Scope, hazards, today's sequence, and what done looks like.
9
Position the dump trailer under the tear-off zone.
Set before the roof opens so debris drops straight in.
10
Text the office: "Site set, tear-off starting."
Attach two photos. This text triggers the job file at the office.
11
Open the roof.
Only once steps 1 through 10 are ticked.
Field calls
Same threshold, every timeRotten deck
Two sheets or fewer: replace under the exclusion line. More than two: stop, photograph, raise a change order. Homeowner signs before you cut.
Weather
Foreman calls it by 6 AM. Office tells the homeowner before 7. Nobody finds out from an empty driveway.
Short delivery
Call the Apex rep before 7:30 and re-sequence the day. Do not send the crew home over two bundles.
Close out and verify. Photos in, invoice out.
Magnetic-sweep the lawn and driveway, walk the finished roof with the homeowner, then upload final photos. They trigger the invoice and warranty letter.
